Shiro "Cheekbones" contouring powders

Told you to expect more Shiro Cosmetics!  It's also yet another post related to contouring but it is a big thing right now and I'm enjoying it, so neh.  This contouring set is rather novel, as well as amazing; they are inspired by Benedict Cumberbatch's cheekbones, which are rather desirable after all!  The containers feature a picture by Amy Zen of Cumberbatch in his Sherlock role, and the names of each powder are references to the programme too.  I'm a huge Sherlock fun so this excited me no end, but also the collection actually caters to all skin tones and contains some of the most cool-toned (grey!!!) contouring products I've ever seen!  Remember, natural shadows = cool toned.
I bought four of the loose powders from the Cheekbones collection.  There are seven in total but the others were too warm for me and would be more of a bronzer.  As well as being unique for being exceptionally cool-toned, they are also the first loose powders for contouring I have come across.

I'll talk about the shades in the order of the swatches below.

First off there is An East Wind Coming.  This is a matte grey with a blue/grey tone to it.  While it is the least natural of the contouring shades, it is still fun to play with (just maybe not on a work day).

Next is Do Your Research.  This is a matte cool taupe.  It is not as intense as the previous colour and I find it looks incredibly natural on me, it really does look just like shadow.

Think, It's The New Sexy is a highlighter colour.  It's a warm cream with the slightest bit of sheen, though it looks pretty matte on.  Unfortunately this is slightly darker and warmer than my natural skin tone and so I can't use it myself.  I have put it straight in to my kit however!  It blends in to the skin so well, I'm really looking forwards to using it on someone a little darker than me.

Burn The Heart Out Of You is described as a matte cool-toned desaturated mauve and I would say that is spot-on.  It also looks really natural on me and quite flattering.

Can you see just how cool-toned the darker shades are?  Ah, they're so good.  I'm currently using the Real Techniques Sculpting brush to apply them and it does a great job at not applying too much powder and at blending them in seamlessly.

At $8 each for the full size jar (sample bags for $1.50), I think these are a great price.  You can buy the Cheekbones collection here to fulfil all of your face contouring desires.  Shiro is a small indie brand and their products are 100% vegan.  They make their items in small batches at their base in Portland, Oregon.  If you like the look of Shiro products then stay alert, I have a few more posts lined up including their whole Seven Kingdoms (Game of Thrones) collection!
